Halibut Point State Park
Rockport in itself is one of the prettiest towns in Massachusetts that I have ever been to. I love shopping in the adorable shops on Bearskin Neck, admiring the cute artsy cottages overlooking the ocean and climbing on the rocks. However, I have recently discovered my absolute FAVORITE thing about Rockport- Halibut Point State Park. Only a short walk from the parking lot is a quarry overlooking the ocean. If that's not enough, a bit farther down the well marked trail is an opening to the ocean. I visited on a seemingly nice day, although rain had been teasing us off an on throughout the day. As we began walking around the quarry, the skies opened up and it started torrentially down-pouring. All other visitors were scared off by the rain so we were able to enjoy the scene alone (we as in me, Molly and Marissa). Our clothes were sopping wet, so we stripped them off and casually took a dip in the sea. It was liberating. The storm passed and the sun lit up the sky for some awesome post-storm pictures. You'd be missing out if you never go visit Halibut Point State Park in Rockport. I am SO happy I live on the North Shore.
